Your UPMC Dental Advantage Plan offers employees like you two options: standard and premium. Designing their PPO plans to encourage patients to pursue preventive care, you’ll be pleased to learn that there are unique advantages to seeing an in-network dentist, as there are no waiting periods, and no pre-authorizations are required for major services.

For those who have a Standard PPO Plan, typical coverage includes:

Preventive services (i.e., dental cleanings and exams, X-rays) are covered at 100%
Minor restorative services (i.e., dental fillings) are covered at 60%
Major restorative services (i.e., dental crowns, dentures, tooth extractions) are covered at 40%

For Premium PPO members, the coverage for this plan looks like the following:

Preventive services are covered at 100%
Minor restorative services are covered at 80%
Major restorative services are covered at 50%

Should you have a child under the age of 19 who requires orthodontia, coverage for this particular service is 50% for both standard and premium plans.
